To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on how many occasions over the past 12 months MOD personnel or equipment have been used in mountain or sea rescue operations.

Between 1 November 1992 and 31 October 1993 United Kingdom military search and rescue helicopter flights and mountain rescue teams were called out on 2,049 occasions. A total of 724 of these callouts involved rescue operations.
