To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what is the state of readiness of HMS Intrepid; and how long it will take to make the vessel operational;

(2) what is the state of readiness of HMS Fearless; and how long it will take to make the vessel operational.

HMS Intrepid is at present held in a state of extended readiness at Portsmouth. For operational security reasons, we would not discuss how long it would take to reactivate her from this state, but the planned response time would be consistent with our new assumptions about warning times. HMS Fearless is currently fully operational.
