To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when all police areas will have access to expandable batons.

Chief officers may equip their officers with any of the expandable batons currently undergoing trials, although the approval of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State is required in the case of the Metropolitan police.
