HL Deb 10 February 1994 vol 551 c132WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What advice they will give to dairy farmers who are under medical advice not to use organophosphorous compounds or who are unwilling to use these compounds and whose milking stock have tested positive to warble fly infestation.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

Milking cattle that have tested positive to warble fly infestation must be treated with a licensed OP warblecide in accordance with warble fly legislation, although this should not be done between 1 December and 14 March. Owners who are unable or unwilling to use such compounds themselves will need to make other arrangements, at their own expense to ensure the treatment is carried out. They should consult their local Divisional Veterinary Officer for any further advice.
