To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the level of food aid the ODA proposes to allocate to Kenya for 1994–95.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

We allocated 5,000 tonnes of white maize from our 1993–94 national food aid programme as an immediate response to the findings of the Food and Agriculture Organisation—World Food Programme mission last October. We will consider a further allocation from our 1994–95 programme in the light of the forthcoming SEPHA appeal, and the plans of other donors including the EC.
