HC Deb 08 February 1994 vol 237 c233W
18. Mr. Jon Owen Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many sub-strategic nuclear warheads are currently held by each of the former Soviet republics.

Mr. Hanley

We believe that all former Soviet sub-strategic nuclear weapons have been withdrawn to Russia. Between 11,000 and 12,000 may currently remain, but many of these are unlikely to be fully operational.
