§ Mr. SoamesThe Ministry has a specific research contract with the national poisons unit—NPU—to investigate possible cases of poisoning due to dietary supplements and traditional remedies. Payments to the NPU under this contract in the financial years 1992–93 and 1993–94 were £109,000 and £117,000 respectively. MAFF is not funding any work on pesticides at the NPU.
