HC Deb 02 February 1994 vol 236 c785W
Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the adequacy of the enforcement of the law of shameless indecency in Scotland.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 1 February 1994]: I am not aware of any particular difficulties in enforcing this aspect of the common law. The statistics show that in 1992 more than double the number of persons were charged with shameless indecency than in 1988 and nearly double the number of persons were convicted of that offence by the courts.
