§ Sir Hector MonroThere has been no recent discussion between my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Scottish Arts Council on the subject of a Scottish national theatre. I understand, however, that a working party was established recently by the Scottish Arts Council to assess the demand and potential remit of a national theatre company. It would be for the Scottish Arts Council to determine whether such a company, if established, should be supported by its funds.
