To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what changes he has under consideration relating to the transportation of plutonium nitrate.

My Department is preparing to implement the code for the safe carriage of irradiated nuclear fuel, plutonium and high-level radioactive wastes in flasks on board ships, which was agreed by the assembly of the International Maritime Organisation in November 1993.
