To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many(a) males and (b) females have been employed in each of the four senior grades in the Scottish Office in each of the past five years.

At 1 April each year the numbers of staff —expressed as full-time equivalents—employed in each of the four senior grades in the Scottish Office were as follows:
