Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many employees were judged to be guilty of fraud in his Department in each year since 1989; and how many were dismissed.

Mr. Redwood

In 1991, one officer was found in breach of departmental regulations and dismissed. A criminal conviction for fraud followed.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his Department's policy for dealing with employees found guilty of fraud.

All cases of misconduct are investigated and considered on their merits.
