Mr. Robert G. HughesThe Office of Science and Technology will be spending in 1994–95 about £1 million on initiatives designed to improve public understanding and appreciation of the contribution that science, engineering and technology make to our society. These initiatives support work in schools through such schemes as the CREST—creativity in science and technology—awards and young engineers clubs. They also promote science, engineering and technology among the wider public through major events like the national science and engineering week, the British Association's science festival and the Edinburgh international science festival.
