Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish for each education authority in Wales, and for Wales as a whole, the number of(a) pupils in assisted places schemes in secondary schools, (b) pupils in secondary schools in total for each year since 1987, and (c) the number in (a) as a percentage of (b).

The assisted places scheme provides assistance to parents to enable their children to attend certain independent schools. The information requested is as follows:
