§ Mr. McMasterTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to establish an independent body to investigate and take action on complaints against police officers; and if he will make a statement.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThere are no plans to establish such a body. The Police and Magistrates' Courts Bill includes a new power for Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary to review how a complaint has been handled by the police and, in certain circumstances, to direct the chief constable to reconsider the complaint.
