§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimated, as of 15 April 1994, that some 26,000 people had fled Rwanda, 12,000 of whom were Burundi refugees who had sought refuge in Rwanda; 9,000 Rwandese refugees are reported to have fled to Zaire. The situation, however, is in a state of flux. Britain has so far committed some £820,000 in humanitarian aid as our share of the international response. Details of responses by other donor countries are not yet available.
