§ Mr. AncramThe activities of the fishing industry are monitored both at sea and on shore by the fisheries inspectorate of the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland. Information or reports suggesting the occurrence of unlogged landings are immediately investigated, and prosecutions taken as appropriate. Such landings undermine the efforts being made to conserve stocks and jeopardise livelihoods of fishermen and those dependent on the industry.
