HC Deb 14 April 1994 vol 241 c256W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what measures he will take to continue the training courses of members of CTF consequent upon the closure on 31 March.

Sir Wyn Roberts

North East Wales TEC is working with CTF and the Employment Service to arrange counselling and assessment interviews and to identify suitable alternative opportunities. All participants affected will be given the opportunity to continue their programmes.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement concerning the closure of the CTF training centre, Shotton, Clwyd.

Sir Wyn Roberts

The North East Wales training and enterprise council and CTF did not reach agreement on renewal of a contract for 1994–95. The TEC is working with CTF and the local employment service to ensure suitable alternative training provision for the participants on Government training programmes who are affected.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many people have been trained at the CTF training centre; and how many were undergoing training up to 31 March.

Sir Wyn Roberts

In the year up to 31 March 1994, 80 people were trained at the centre with 51 still in training at 31 March.
