Letter from A. J. Butler to Mr. Neil Gerrard, dated 12 April 1994:
The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question asking how many people were imprisoned in each of the last three years for non-payment of fines imposed for not having paid road tax on a motor vehicle.I am afraid that the information you have requested is not available centrally since the offence of non-payment of road tax is recorded under the general category of "other motoring offences".
