§ Mr. McGradyTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps will be taken to ensure that the value of the former homes of a person in residential care is disregarded by the health and social services boards where a former carer remains in the property.
§ Mr. AncramA health and social services board, in assessing a resident's ability to pay for residential or nursing home care, can disregard the value of his or her former home if it is also the sole residence of someone who has been caring for the resident. Where a board has decided to disregard the value of the property because a former long-term carer is living there it may review that decision when that person moves out or dies.
