§ Mr. McFallTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what requirements have been notified to the Canadian authorities by his Department, for additional facilities in the low-level training areas around Canadian forces base, Goose bay for(a) weapons training, (b) electronic threat simulation and (c) air combat manoeuvring instrumentation, for use by Royal Air Force aircraft.
§ Mr. HanleyRequests for additional facilities at Goose bay are not made in isolation by any one nation, but are progressed with the Canadian authorities on a multi-national basis, once the requirement has been agreed between user nations. User nations have recently expressed a desire to construct another practice weapons training range with a laser target marking facility, and provide electronic threat simulators. We are not aware of any plans to suggest a requirement for air combat manoeuvring instrumentation facilities.
