Mr. Hinchliffe

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will require medical reports, undertaken on behalf of his Department for the purposes of benefit claims, to be typewritten in the interests of clarity; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hague

The provision of medical reports for benefit purposes is a matter for Michael Bichard, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to the hon. Member with such information as is available and a copy will be placed in the Library.
