To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will be the yield in a full year of 17.5 per cent. VAT on domestic fuel.

[holding answer 21 October 1993]: At the time of its announcement in the last Budget it was estimated that applying VAT to domestic fuel and power would raise £2.85 billion in 1996–97, the first year that revenue will fully reflect the standard rate of 17½ per cent.
