To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the Government's intention with regard to the time scale for the privatisation of Railtrack.

§ Mr. Freeman
As we said in the White Paper "New Opportunities for the Railways", Cm 2012, the Government would like to see the private sector owning as much as possible of the railway in the longer term. No target date has been set for the transfer of Railtrack to private sector ownership.
