To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations have been made to the Government of India concerning human rights abuses in Punjab and Kashmir; and if he will make a statement.

We have regularly raised our concerns about human rights with the Indian Government, most recently during a discussion between my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and the Indian Foreign Minister, Dinesh Singh, in New York in September.
