HL Deb 18 October 1993 vol 549 cc34-5WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When Guidance Note MS 17 from the Health and Safety Executive was withdrawn from Her Majesty's Stationery Office stores: and

When Her Majesty's Stationery Office stopped selling Guidance Note MS 17 from the Health and Safety Executive.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Employment (Lord Henley)

From 4th October 1993, Dillons bookshops, Ryman the Stationers and Ryman Computer Centres became the authorised retail outlets for Health and Safety Executive (HSE) publications. In anticipation of this change, HSE requested Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO) to transfer the bulk of their stock of MS 17 to HSE's warehouse, which they did on 23rd August 1993. Although HMSO retained a supply to meet anticipated demand for the remaining period, demand exceeded what remained for sale. To maintain availability, HSE provided photocopies of MS 17 free of charge. From 4th October, MS 17 again went on sale.
