The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of (a) staff assaults and (b) prisoner-on-prisoner assaults that have taken place at Her Majesty's Prison Blakenhurst since it opened.Central records of proven adjudications at Her Majesty's Prison Blakenhurst (including any attempted offences) show that provisionally in the six months April to September 1993 there were 16 assaults on staff and others plus 3 assaults on prisoners by prisoners.
