The Earl of CaithnessOne hundred and ninety-seven thousand, two hundred and sixty-eight civil servants were employed in government departments or agencies in London and the South East at 1 April 1993. Of these, 106,802 were in receipt of London Weighting and 44,929 received Local Pay Additions. At the rates currently applying, the estimated annual cost of London Weighting is £157,254,294 and of Local Pay Additions is £20,368,000.
