HC Deb 26 November 1993 vol 233 c237W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the proposed visitors' waiting centre will be built and opened at Wandsworth prison; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the director general of the Prison Service. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from D. Lewis to Mr. Tom Cox, undated: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the new visitor's centre at Wandsworth prison. Work on converting an existing quarter adjacent to the prison gate to a visitor's centre was completed in September, at a cost of £35,000. A Centre Co-ordinator has recently been appointed and the centre is expected to come into use early in the New Year.
