Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will list the total salary costs for(a) administrative and clerical staff, (b) managerial staff and (c) nursing and midwifery staff employed in the national health service in each region in each year since 1989.

  1. 1. Salaries and wages costs incurred by family health services authorities are excluded as corresponding costs are not identified on the same basis.
  2. 2. Managerial staff consists of general and senior managers, the main reason for the increase has been the reclassification of some staff in professional and administrative groups into these grades.
