Mr. Mandelson

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, pursuant to his answer of 25 October,Official Report, column 422, what are the circumstances in the Land. Registry which prevent the assessment of foreign ownership of land in England and Wales; and what steps he intends to take to make this information available.

The Land Registration Acts 1925–88 do not require applicants for registration to state their nationality. There are no plans at present to introduce such a requirement.
