To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many buildings his Department occupies in London; and how many administrative staff his Department employs in offices in London.

Excluding military sites and other buildings of the defence estate, my Department occupies 22 buildings in London.

On 1 October 1993 there were some 9,300 full and part-time MOD non-industrial civil servants working in the inner-London pay area.
