Mr. Anthony Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many dogs have been seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991;

(2) how many dogs have been put down under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 to date.

Mr. Charles Wardle

Information on the numbers of dogs which have been seized by the police and local authorities and those destroyed as a result of court proceedings under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is not collected centrally. Information on the number of prosecutions, convictions and cautions under the Act for 1992 is expected to be available in December and I shall write to my hon. Friend as soon as the information becomes available.

Mr. Anthony Coombs

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what breeds are now proscribed as dangerous dogs.

Mr. Charles Wardle
