HC Deb 03 November 1993 vol 231 c300W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the impact of the move of No. 15 (Reserve) Squadron RAF to Lossiemouth on the frequency of use of the weapons ranges at(a) Tain, (b) Rosehearty and (c) Cape Wrath.

Mr. Hanley

The use of the ranges at RAF Tain and RAF Rosehearty has decreased during the last 12 months following the progressive withdrawal from the United Kingdom of USAF F-111 aircraft and the run-down of the Buccaneers at RAF Lossiemouth. The move of No. 15 (Reserve) Squadron to RAF Lossiemouth is expected to increase usage from current levels in such a way as to be approximately in line with that which applied at 1992. The use of the Cape Wrath range is not expected to be affected by the move of No. 15 (Reserve) Squadron.
