HC Deb 03 November 1993 vol 231 c215W
Mr. David Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment has been made of the extent to which there is a shortage of specialist dieticians to counter diabetes; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Sackville

The numbers of dieticians working in the national health service has grown from 1,140 in 1987 to 1,410 in 1992. It is for purchasers and providers to determine the numbers of dieticians required to provide an effective service to people with diabetes.
