HC Deb 03 November 1993 vol 231 c276W
16. Mr. Hinchliffe

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many staff at the high commissions in Australia, Canada and New Zealand are currently involved in discussions in relation to the British child migrant scheme.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No staff at the high commissions in Australia, Canada and New Zealand are currently involved in discussions about the child migrant scheme. In July 1993, the high commission in Ottawa dealt with an inquiry from a Canadian television station following the showing on British television of the ABC/BBC mini-series "The Leaving of Liverpool". In Canberra, a member of the high commission was involved—most recently, in September —in obtaining information from the Department of Immigration and Ethnic Affairs about the Child Migrants Trust in Australia. The information was passed to the Department of Health in London.
