To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many people were unemployed in(a) Newport, (b) Gwent and (c) Wales at the latest date for which figures are available.

In September 1993, there were 8,023, 21,794 and 131,556 unemployed claimants in Newport borough, Gwent and Wales respectively.
