Mr. Redwood

[holding answer 25 May 1993]: The table sets out total net spending by the Department of the Environment for each year since 1984–85, excluding housing, inner cities and all credit approvals/capital allocations. Comparable figures for spending before 1984–85, and a differentiation between current and capital spending before 1988–89, are not available. Information on the regional spread of this spending is also not available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
