HC Deb 27 May 1993 vol 225 c722W
Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to review the cases of those convicted on the evidence of confession alone, before the introduction of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

Mr. Jack

My right hon. and learned Friend is always ready to consider representations alleging wrongful conviction, whatever the nature of the evidence in the case, and to exercise his powers wherever it is appropriate to do so. He has, however, no plans to institute a general review of cases falling into the category described.
