HC Deb 25 May 1993 vol 225 c526W
Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what was the figure initially given for the expected increase for unemployment for April 1993 for the purposes of seasonal adjustment at his Department's press briefing on the morning of 20 May; what revisions were subsequently made to this figure; and what were the reasons for the revision.

Mr. McLoughlin

A total of 2,165, which was a clerical error in the departmental press office's briefing pack, subsequently corrected at the same meeting to around "five thousand" (4,965). No re-estimation of seasonal factors was involved.
