The lower spend than allocation in 1992–93 reflects efficiency measures and reassessments of fleet activities. The lower allocation in the current financial year reflects expected continuing improvements in efficiency, the reduction in size of the fourth frigate squadron and different fleet activity priorities from the previous year.
