HC Deb 19 May 1993 vol 225 cc230-1W
Ms Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence who his representatives are at the New York preparatory conference on 10 to 14 May for the 1993 international review of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

My Department was represented at the preparatory committee for the 1995 conference of the parties to the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons by two officials from the defence arms control unit.

Mr. Alton

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what arrangements are to be made to enable all holders of the Atlantic Star to participate in the march past being held in Liverpool to commemorate the battle of the Atlantic.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

Arrangements for the battle of the Atlantic march past in Liverpool have been co-ordinated by the Royal Naval Association—in conjunction with Army and RAF veterans' associations —in the case of ex-service personnel, and by the Chamber of Shipping, in the case of merchant seamen. Any veterans who have not been contacted by these or other veterans' organisations and who wish to join the march past may, either as individuals or as representatives of groups, apply to the "drop-in centre" at Cunard building, Liverpool during the mornings of 16 to 28 May. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis after fitness to march has been assessed.
