§ 30. Mr. Jon Owen JonesTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what further steps he is taking to implement the EC general product safety directive in full.
§ Mr. LeighMy Department intends to publish a consultation document on the implementation of this directive in the early autumn. The document will contain, and seek comments on, the draft implementing regulations. It will also contain guidance notes on the interpretation of the legislation. The timing of the next steps will depend on the outcome of the consultation, but I am confident that the United Kingdom will implement the legislation by the date laid down in the directive.
