§ Mr. AltonTo ask the Secretary of State for Education when a decision will be taken about submissions made by the Standing Conference of Principals in Higher Education about the use of the title university college in their nomenclature; when the submissions were first received by his Department; how many colleges will be affected by the changes; and what criteria are to be used in determining the right of a college to such a title.
§ Mr. BoswellThe submission of the Standing Conference of Principals was received on 19 March 1993. Under its proposals, all publicly funded higher education colleges would be eligible to adopt a "university college" title. I hope to be in a position to reply shortly to the chairman of the standing conference.
