To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many men and women, distinguishing between full-time and part-time employees and excluding all in training, were in employment in(a) June 1979 and (b) the latest date for which figures are available, in each travel-to-work area that covers an enterprise zone; and what were the figures for those unemployed in each case.

Travel-to-work areas which wholly or partly cover enterprise zones are listed. Information on full-time and part-time employees and claimant unemployment for these areas can be obtained from the NOMIS database in the Library.

Data on employment by ward-based travel-to-work area is available since September 1981 from the periodic censuses of employment. Monthly ward-based claimant count information is available on the unadjusted basis from June 1983 onwards.
