§ Mr. Kenneth CarlislePedal cycles are not required at present to be fitted with audible warning devices such as bells. We are currently considering updating the Pedal Bicycles (Safety) Regulations and the Pedal Cycles (Construction and Use) Regulations with a view to incorporating into them the latest British standard on the construction of pedal cycles. We shall be taking the opportunity at the same time to review the position on the compulsory fitting and use of bells.
