§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the President of the Board of Trade how many sub-post offices have been proposed for closure since 1 October 1992; and how many were proposed for closure in the period between 1 April 1992 and 1 October 1992.
§ Mr. LeighPost Office Counters Ltd. has proposed 16 sub-post offices for closure since 1 October 1992, of which five have closed to date. Between 1 April 1992 and 1 October 1992, 25 sub-post offices were proposed for closure of which 23 have closed to date.
In addition, closures may occur, particularly in rural areas, where it has not been possible to find suitable replacement candidates for sub-postmasterships.
