HC Deb 31 March 1993 vol 222 c298W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make finance available to British Rail to allow the track between Rose Grove and Colne in Lancashire to be maintained to a standard which will enable speed restrictions to be lifted.

Mr. Freeman

Decisions on railway maintenance are entirely matters for the management of British Rail. Subsidy is made available to British Rail as a lump sum. It is for British Rail to allocate this money to particular lines and services.
