§ Mr. Charles WardleMy right hon. and learned Friend made a statement about the future of the police service in England and Wales on 23 March. On the same day he met the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers and the chairman of the Association of County Councils to discuss the proposals which were set out in his statement. He has no plans at present to meet the Assembly of Welsh Counties, the Magistrates Association or individual chief police officers.
