§ Mr. ForthIn January 1992, 148,000 boys attended maintained primary and secondary boys' schools and 180,000 girls attended maintained primary or secondary girls' schools in England. Some single-sex schools accept a few pupils of the opposite sex. In January 1992 there were about 1,000 such pupils.
